We finally have a date, everyone!
“Beauty And The Beast” will officially be released in cinemas nationwide on the 30th of March!
Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) took to Facebook earlier today (21st March) to announce the good news, stating that the uncensored, un-cut movie will be screened in Malaysia. Yes people, we have evolved for the better!
“Beauty And The Beast” will still have a P13 rating, meaning that any child aged below 13 years will need the guidance of a parent or guardian to watch it.
Needless to say, the post was met with overwhelmingly positive comments from Malaysian social media users, as they rejoiced over the release of this film.
GSC further clarified in their post’s comment section that their ticket refunds were still ongoing and that the new tickets would be on sale very soon.
The original release date for “Beauty And The Beast” in Malaysia was 16th March 2017. However, due to the controversy surrounding the film’s openly gay character, Le Fou, it had to be reviewed by the Malaysian Censorship Board (LPF).
As a result, the movie did eventually get approved after roughly 4 minutes worth of scenes were cut from the movie.
However, Disney was not happy with the LPF’s decision to cut out those scenes and said that they would shelf the film if they chose to screen the cut version.
Well, it looks like Disney won at the end of the day since the uncut version is now coming to our screens very soon.
We don’t know about you, but we’re incredibly excited by this turn of events!
