What’s one of the best things to do as a kid growing up? For many of us, it’s heading to the beach with our families. A simple dip in the water could turn a bad day into a good one… or so we thought.
In a recent video shared by @aenlufya, she and her family are seen enjoying a day at the beach on a sunny day at Batu Feringghi in Penang.
“Be careful when swimming at Batu Ferringhi beach”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Aen (the mother) said that while her children were happily playing in the water, one of them suddenly started crying for help, complaining of sharp pains and itchiness throughout her body.
She revealed that she was initially confused as to why her 9-year-old daughter was in so much distress. But after checking her over, she found visible bumps on her body.
She was sent to the hospital
Aen went on to explain that some beachgoers saw what happened and came over to let her know that her daughter had been stung by a jellyfish.
“One of the visitors even called an ambulance for us. While we were waiting, we tried to find a nearby eatery. The shop owner gave us lime, and I sent a friend to buy vinegar.”
For those unfamiliar, vinegar is a weak acid that has been shown to work in the treatment of jellyfish stings.
She added that when the ambulance arrived, the doctor examined her daughter and gave her an injection. Although she’s doing better now, the itching will take some time to subside.
“My advice is to be careful if you go to the beach. If possible, avoid swimming, as even staying close to the shore can be risky.”

Jellyfish can be hard to spot in the water, so always be alert when you’re at the beach! And bring along a bottle of vinegar just in case!
