As of Friday (23 January), Hong Kong science fiction action film Back to the Past has grossed more than RM13.5 million at the Malaysian box office, according to TGV Cinemas.
The film’s lead star, Louis Koo, expressed hope that the movie will continue to perform strongly in Malaysia and worldwide, so that fans may eventually get to see an extended version of Back to the Past. Yesterday, Louis and his co-stars Jessica Hsuan, Raymond Lam, and Kevin Chu made a grand entrance at Pavilion Bukit Bintang to meet fans and thank them for their overwhelming support.

Earlier, Louis revealed that he may visit Malaysia to personally thank fans for the film’s strong box-office performance in the country.
“Bring the numbers up so that we can release the extended version!” he said.

WORLD OF BUZZ attended the meet-and-greet session at Pavilion Bukit Bintang, where fans waited for the Hong Kong stars with gifts and flowers. During the event, Louis acknowledged the film’s performance in Malaysia and reiterated his hope to see the numbers continue to rise, which could allow the extended version of Back to the Past to see the light of day.
In case you missed it, Louis previously revealed that many scenes were removed from the final cut of the movie. He also shared that a third ending for Back to the Past exists, which could potentially pave the way for a sequel and a spin-off.

Back to the Past currently features two different endings, although Louis did not disclose details about the filmed third ending. The movie, which is a direct sequel to the 2001 TV series A Step into the Past, is still playing in Malaysian cinemas.
