How often does anyone stumble upon a suitcase filled with cash just lying around in public? But if that were to happen, what would you do?
Authorities in Selangor are calling on the owner of a pink luggage bag, which was found in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Damansara and contains over RM500,000 in cash, to come forward and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, revealed that yesterday, at around 8am, a security guard discovered the pink and white luggage bag. Upon inspection, it was found to contain cash in denominations of RM10, RM50, and RM100 notes.
“We believe the money is genuine. However, we will verify with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM),” he added.
He further stated that the PDRM reviewed CCTV footage from the shopping center but did not specifically focus on the area where the luggage was discovered.
As a result, the PDRM is initiating an investigation under a police inquiry paper regarding the discovery of the money.
It was also reported that if the owner wishes to claim the money, they will be required to provide relevant evidence.
“However, if no one claims it, we will transfer the money to the court for further action,” Hussein added.
