Prasarana Malaysia Berhad reported a surge in operational performance for 2025, recording just 31 train service disruptions throughout the year.

These figures were confirmed by Prasarana President and Group CEO Amir Hamdan, and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, during a press conference today (7 January) at the Menara Prasarana in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

According to them, Prasarana achieved positive progress when it averaged around 1.31 million passengers a day throughout the year, with the highest number reaching 1.63 million on 31 December 2025.

“Service disruption means the train stops moving for more than 5 minutes”

Despite its improvement in reducing the number of train disruptions for Monorail, MRT, and LRT services, Loke revealed that the LRT Kelana Jaya line remained the most affected line in 2025, with 16 disruptions recorded.

“The Kelana Jaya line is the busiest and most utilised line. If possible, we want to have zero disruptions, but Prasarana has really worked hard in its maintenance work,” the Transport Minister stated.

According to the infographic shared by Prasarana during the press conference, the Kelana Jaya line recorded 49 disruptions in 2022, and the number has shown a downtrend since then, with 36 and 26 disruptions recorded in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Additionally, Loke said that the facilities’ availability throughout the LRT stations in the country shows a major improvement by 31 December 2025. For instance, 99.6% of the elevators at the stations are functioning, significantly improving accessibility for commuters.

System disruptions are caused by multiple reasons, some of which are unavoidable

In the meantime, Loke acknowledged that he understood that even a one-time disruption would cause disappointment among users, adding that some disruptions are mechanical, while others are caused by weather and system failure.

“Sometimes, there are also unforeseen and unavoidable factors, such as cable theft,” he remarked.

Despite the flaws, Loke assured everyone that Prasarana and the Ministry of Transport strive to do their best.

Regarding cable theft incidents, the Transport Minister assured that actions are being taken to curb the issue.
