Annuar Musa: 1,000 Schools To Be Given High-Speed 5G Internet By The End of 2022

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has revealed that 1,000 selected schools throughout Malaysia will be provided with high-speed 5G internet network by the end of the year. These include schools located in rural areas which would not only benefit the education institutions but also consumers in the surrounding areas.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, Annuar asserted that currently, his ministry is waiting for approval from the Education Ministry to implement the initiative quickly. He further commented,

“We are still waiting for the green light from the Education Ministry, and I have already discussed with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), who have given their commitment to make a success of the 5G network implementation in schools,”

The Communications Minister also revealed that up to six schools have been selected so far under the starting concept to test the capacity of the 5G network. It is hoped that the 5G internet connectivity would benefit school managements through a better learning process.
