One of the largest shopping mall operators in the country, Sunway Malls have today announced that only fully vaccinated visitors will be allowed to enter its shopping malls within Klang Valley starting from 15 September 2021. Shared by its various shopping malls on their respective Facebook pages, Sunway Malls announced that the decision is aimed at creating a safer community for everyone amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Effective 15 September 2021, the management will only admit fully vaccinated individuals into these malls:
- Sunway Pyramid
- Sunway Velocity
- Sunway Putra
- Sunway Giza
Furthermore, Sunway Malls will be following the Malaysian government’s definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ to distinguish a shopper’s vaccination status. An individual is only considered to be fully vaccinated if 14 days have passed since they have been administered with the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine if they are taking vaccines that require two doses, namely vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Meanwhile, for those who are taking vaccines that only require a single dose, namely vaccines from Cansino and Johnson & Johnson, they must wait 28 days after the vaccine is administered to be considered as being fully vaccinated.
However, Sunway Malls also noted that leniency will be given to those who fall within certain categories that are not qualified for vaccination and such shoppers may be allowed into their premises.
Previously, Sunway Malls in a press release on 23 August 2021 said that Sunway Group is committed towards the safety and welfare of their staff throughout the pandemic. In fact, the group has already achieved close to a 95% vaccination rate amongst its work force and will soon achieve full vaccination.
Awesome! So take note guys, and make sure you are only fully vaccinated before planning to visit your nearest Sunway mall starting this 15 September, okay.
