Parliament was officially dissolved yesterday (October 10) following the announcement by the Prime Minister, and with the next General Election expected to take place during the flood season, the decision has been met by criticism.
However, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has something else to say as he believes that it was the correct choice.
“The PM made the right decision to dissolve the Parliament.”
He shared that he believes that the representatives of the parties that formed the coalition government are increasingly showing a lack of solidarity with the PM, Ismail Sabri in governing the country.
He also highlighted that he shares the same view with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when it comes to the dissolution of the parliament.
Ahmad said that following the dissolution, the mandate has to be returned to the rakyat.
“This will allow the people to elect a government that can bring stability and prosperity to the country.”
In regards to the PM’s declaration of UMNO and BN as the main enemy, Ahmad believed that it illustrates the lack of trust and respect in UMNO to lead the government.
Astro Awani reported that the party would let the Election Commission (EC) determine the GE15 date while suggesting that it could be held in mid-November, before the flooding or the monsoon season.
He also declared that the UMNO general assembly, which was originally planned to take place from November 23 to 26 has been postponed to a later date due to GE15. They also decided that “Stability and Prosperity” will serve as the central topic of the GE15 manifesto.
In light of the flood and voting season which happened to fall at the same time, we hope that the relevant parties will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of the rakyat who will need to carry out their due diligence as Malaysians.
