Beyond politics, Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad bin Maslan is a popular figure amongst Malaysians thanks to his witty demeanour and charm.
Besides that, he is also famous for his rather unconventional cooking recipes, such as the Strawberry Fried Rice back in the day and more recently, fried mihun with pineapples. Err, I hope they taste better than they sound on paper!
Well, apparently the Pontian Member of Parliament (MP) is not only skilled at cooking but has what it takes to become a barista too as seen in a recent viral video which has garnered over 312,000 views as of the time of writing.
Shared by local coffee shop chain Monti Keopi on TikTok, Ahmad Maslan can be seen showing off his barista skills at the chain’s booth at the iTekad Launcheon Event 2023 at Bank Negara Malaysia.
In the video, the Deputy Finance Minister I was visiting the booth and enquiring about Monti Keopi’s products when he suddenly started taking a cup and asking the barista to move aside while he made his own coffee at the booth.
Of course, just like his unconventional cooking recipes, Ahmad Maslan did make some faux pas while making the coffee, which was hilariously pointed out by Monti Keopi in the video.

In the video’s comments section, many Malaysians were amused by Ahmad Maslan’s ‘selamba’ demeanour and how he seemingly can’t stay away from the kitchen, for better or worse.
One commenter said that the Deputy Finance Minister I is the MVP of the week for this stunt. Meanwhile, another commenter is waiting for Ahmad Maslan to collaborate with another politician known for his cooking prowess, Mat Sabu to have their own cooking show.
