The Member of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Ladang, Zuraida Md Noor, recently called for the Terengganu State Government to ban all schoolgirls who have reached puberty from joining any public dance performances in the state.

Speaking at the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) yesterday (19 November), Zuraida urged for the additional requirement to be implemented in the state after it had previously allowed primary school girls to participate in public dance performances.

Sinar Harian quoted the Ladang ADUN as saying that the additional requirement for only schoolgirls who have not reached puberty to be allowed to join dance performances would be an improvement from the current entertainment, cultural performances, tourism and sports guidelines enforced by Terengganu.

She asserted,

“Previously, we allowed our girls in primary school to perform dances and other performances in front of the public.”

“However, wouldn’t it be better if we further define these girls into the categories of those who have reached puberty and those who haven’t?”

Zuraida stressed that by allowing only girls who haven’t reached puberty to perform, Terengganu would continue to be under the protection and blessing of Allah.

She asserted,

“In other words, only girls who have yet to reach puberty would be allowed to perform as an improvement to the current guidelines so that our state would always be under the grace of Allah.”
