What will we do without our abang bomba? Time and time again, they have proven themselves as one of the essential pieces of our lives. From saving people in burning buildings to saving cats stuck on trees, they are basically real-life superheroes.
Recently a video was shared on Instagram, showing a rescue mission by our firemen to save a poor sea turtle that was entangled in a ghost net (abandoned fishing net). It was a race against time as the turtle looked like it had been stuck there for quite a while.
From the video, it can be heard by the person who recorded it that our abang bomba wasted no time to reach the scene, and they immediately went to work to cut the ghost net that had ensnared the turtle.
They tried their best to be gentle as the poor little one must have been in so much stress after getting itself caught.
After just a few minutes, they managed to free the turtle, and they immediately lifted her up to be set free back to the ocean.
Yay! I’m free!

Thank you to our abang bomba as well as the person who found the turtle and called the authorities. It is scary to think that there are more marine animals out there that are not so lucky when faced with such predicaments, especially when it involves marine debris and trash produced by humans.
We need to kick the environmentalist movement into hyperdrive if we want to stop our habits from destroying the Earth and her animals in the process. It is our home too.
