The Johor Palace is continuing its meaningful tradition of preparing and distributing Bubur Lambuk, a traditional Malaysian savoury rice porridge or congee, known as a “scattered” spiced porridge, to the underprivileged during the month of Ramadan. This initiative was first established by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim in 2020.
His Majesty’s team shared on his official Facebook page how the initiative involves over 50 palace staff, who begin the cooking process as early as 7 AM.

Spreading joy across the state
Regarding the initiative, the palace team stated:
“The tradition of distributing Bubur Lambuk, a gift from the Johor Palace, continues as an annual initiative to bring joy to the people in every district of the state ahead of the arrival of Ramadan.
“This noble initiative, which was started in 2020 by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, has now become one of the most anticipated events for all levels of society.”
To ensure a smooth preparation process, operations at the Pasir Pelangi Palace kitchen began as early as 7 AM. The large-scale operation requires the dedicated effort of dozens of staff members to manage the raw ingredients and the final packaging process.
Only the best for the rakyat

PW 1 (B) Faizol Abdullah, the Supervisor of the Johor Palace, shared that the staff involved are committed to ensuring that the quality of the porridge is maintained at the highest level before it reaches the public.
“The distribution of Bubur Lambuk at the Johor Palace is now considered a very meaningful tradition. As early as possible in the morning, the officers begin thorough preparations to meet the distribution targets set,” he said.
A total of 1,500 packs of porridge were distributed to the underprivileged, the elderly, and the differently-abled across six areas in Tangkak on Monday (23 February).
This gesture continues to highlight the close bond between the Johor Royal Family and the rakyat, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan is felt by all.
