The Paris 2024 Olympic Games is expected to take place from July 26, 2024, until August 11, 2024, and this marks the 15th participation for the Malaysian contingent since 1964.
With the Olympic Games just started, many Malaysian fans are already NOT happy with the opening sequence of the long-awaited event, with the criticisms pointed at the significantly lesser screen time for the Malaysian team.
When the Malaysian team made their entrance, 6 athletes and 4 officers with divers were spotted, with Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif having the luxury of carrying the Jalur Gemilang. They were then joined by Nur Dhabitah Sabri, Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, Ashley Lau, and Tan Rouxin, on the boat that also carried delegations from Malawi and the Maldives.
The Malaysian team, however, did not appear much during the opening.
“That’s it?”
Social media users, especially those who stayed up late just to catch a glimpse of the Malaysian team were disappointed.
“What the hell is this opening? I thought only the attire was disappointing but now this. This is the most boring and saddest opening I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”
“This is boring. They’re having fun by themselves, there’s no wow factor at all.”
“The worst Olympic opening ceremony ever. The attires are nice but didn’t go well with the occasion. Did no one check on the lighting details,” said a user.
Fellow Malaysians, what do you think of the opening? Did you stay the night to give support to the Malaysian team?
