To boost its tourism, Bangkok has devised a leniency that will allow visitors from 93 countries, including Malaysians, to stay longer without a visa.

We can now stay visa-free in Thailand for 6o days, an increase from the previous 30-day rule effective yesterday (June 1). According to the Thailand government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, the Cabinet has approved several visa facilitation measures.

“This includes visa exemptions, expanding the visa-on-arrival lists, and introducing a new visa category.”

Previously, only 57 countries were allowed to stay in Thailand visa-free for 60 days before the number was ramped up to 93.

In the meantime, the list of countries eligible for visa-on-arrival has increased to 31 from 19, as reported by BERNAMA.

For digital nomads seeking remote work and a long-term stay in Thailand, the government is not leaving you behind. The visa validity has been extended from 60 days to 5 years, with each stay up to 180 days.
