It’s been months since the announcement of the heatwave that was supposed to end in March. Yet, the heat doesn’t seem to want to move on from our country. This has caused a draught in Pahang as Sungai Pahang has since dried up from the intense heat.

Seeing that this has also affected fishermen as they are unable to catch fishes at the dried up river, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had called for mosques to conduct prayers to request for rain. And it looks like it has worked!

The MYNEWSHUB Twitter page recently showcased how heavy rain started pouring as soon as the solat istisqa’, that was conducted at Sungai Pahang, was completed.

They wrote, “Here is the situation at the Pahang River, which has dried up to form sandbars due to the El Nino phenomenon during a BERNAMA photo survey in Kampung Pesagi and Kampung Sanding, Pahang.”

“Although the existence of sandbars in Sungai Pahang during the summer is not something new for the people around Maran, this time the situation has gotten worse than in previous years, causing the sandy area to become wider and extend along the river’s coast.”

Catfish and tilapia vendors have been faced with losses reaching thousands of Ringgit due to the dried up river.

“The condition of this dry river also caught the attention of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who agreed to conduct an aerial survey and ordered the Pahang Department of Islamic Affairs that all mosques in the state of Pahang must perform solat istisqa’ to ask for rain and solat hajat to pray for the well-being of the people,” they added.

In a video showcased, heavy rain could, thankfully, be seen falling from the sky following the completion of the solat istisqa’ at Sungai Pahang.
