A hiking trail in Subang Jaya called Wawasan Puchong Hill found itself a frequent hiker in the form of a boar. Locals have named it Kajol.

Kajol is believed by locals to have been abandoned by her boar family. So they took it in and started feeding it. Due to its exposure to humans, locals believe that is why it is very tame. This Bollywood Boar has even built a bond with the shopkeepers and hikers there.

One such hiker is Alex Wong who frequently hikes Wawasan Puchong Hill. Kajol is very friendly with Alex and even allows him to take selfies with it. SJ Echo, Subang Jaya’s newsletter, reported Alex saying:

“It is playful and likes nipping at things around it. It is not apprehensive of people and is generally very friendly with everyone, including the shopkeeper’s dog.

It lives at the fringes of the nearby forest but can often be seen at Wawasan Puchong Hill or near the shops.”

Although tame, cute and friendly, Alex warns that it is still a wild animal.

“If you want to take photographs, keep a safe distance especially if you are not comfortable with a wild animal. Leave the wild boar by itself; don’t panic or scare the animal.”

Another avid hiker who has taken notice of Kajol is Sashikala Nadarajah. After the MCO, when people were allowed to hike again, Sashikala who lives in USJ went to Wawasan Puchong Hill.

The unsuspecting hiker parked and alighted her car when she felt something sniffing her leg. When she looked down, she got a shock of the life to see a boar.

She told WORLD OF BUZZ that she screamed and ran around her car, attracting other hikers.

“It approached me and started sniffing me. I was too afraid because I was chased by a wild boar when I visited India.”

Sashikala said she then calmed down when she realised Kajol wasn’t trying to attack her but instead wanting to make friends.

“It was quite friendly and never tried to attack me. I was so surprised it never tried to attack me.”

For Sashikala, this friendly boar is a wonderful addition to Wawasan Puchong Hill.

“Kajol can be a good companion for hikers.

Kajol is such a lovely boar.”

She also told us not to worry as Kajol is well fed by a loving and generous man who buys chicken for it.

Remember to practice caution if you bump into Kajol. We would be tempted to pet, touch or “help” it but doing so might only cause it stress. End of the day it is still a wild animal. Remember the story of the Malaysian dog who accompanied hikers on their trail? However unlike dogs, wild animals are not acclimated to living with humans. They still resort to their instincts when afraid or angry.
