We’re willing to bet a large majority of you reading this article right now are very likely not morning people. Why else would you have clicked on this article, right? 😛 Don’t worry, no judgments here. Admin isn’t a morning person either, that’s why I’m always late to work. After all, why would anyone enjoy waking up early in the morning when you can sleep in and forget about all your worries. Well, if this speaks to you and you relate completely, here are more struggles you’ll definitely relate to:

1. When you want to lepak at the mamak for a bit more but all your friends want to balik rumah to sleep

Who ask you to wake up so early in the morning?!

It’s only 12.15am but half your gang wants to go home already because they want to go home and sleep or they need to wake up early the next day. For you, on the other hand, the night literally just started.

2. Your definition of “morning person” means staying AWAKE until 6 in the morning

We all know being a “morning person” means being able to wake up as early as 6am, but for us non-morning people, however, the term “morning person” takes on a different meaning. For us, it means being able to stay up until 6am. Which technically means you’re still a morning person. It just depends on how you look at it. 😉

3. You sleep in until 12.30pm but you still feel insanely lethargic after you wake up

You find it impossible to wake up early because you’re tired and sleepy, but waking up late somehow gives you that lethargic feeling and occasional headache that lasts the entire day too. Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed. You can never win!!!

4. Always needing an afternoon nap because it constantly feels like you didn’t get enough sleep

Gone are the days where we used to be able to take our afternoon naps every single day. For those of us who’re working or in uni, not only do we need to wake up early, but afternoon naps are also rare and often a luxury. Because of this, we often find ourselves feeling extremely moody in the afternoons… but can you blame us?!

5. When the Nasi Lemak breakfast your parents brought home becomes cold and soggy

You almost never get to enjoy freshly made breakfast while it’s still nice and warm because you wake up way too late. You also always miss out on breakfast promos. What a way to start the day. 🙁

6. That feeling when you get your new semester timetable and you have 8am classes on Mondays

Mondays and 8am classes are easily one of our most hated combos. Uni assignments are already tough enough as it is, now you make us come at 8am on Mondays?! No mood liao… Even office hours don’t start that early!

It’s even worse if we have 8am classes every. single. day. There goes your mood for the rest of the week. Sien ahhhhhhhhhh!!!

7. Having to hear the same question(s) every day, “Why you sleep so much? Wake up earlier can or not?

You’ve probably heard your parents utter these questions before. They scold you for being lazy and unproductive because you wake up too late which automatically leads to you being extremely moody for the rest of the day. What’s so bad about sleeping in?!

8. It always feels like the world is against you… especially when you oversleep and end up being late for morning appointments

We obviously never wake up on time for morning appointments and that’s why we always have to rush like crazy to get ready. The worst part is, when we’re late, it somehow feels like anything that could go wrong will most definitely go wrong. Sometimes, we end up driving on a single lane road behind a car that’s only going at 40km/h, or maybe you forgot your wallet and you need to make a giant U-turn… whatever it is, something always goes wrong!

By the time we arrive at the appointment, we’re exhausted, upset, and completely out of it. Why cannot meet in the afternoon?!

9. When someone wakes you up wayyy too early and it ruins your mood for the rest of the day

Especially when it’s a weekday and you actually have 30 minutes of sleep left before your 7.30am alarm goes off but someone accidentally wakes you up. Not only is your mood for the rest of the day completely ruined, but you now hate every single person that talks to you or wishes you “good morning”. How is this a good morning?!

If you’re no morning person, you’ve very likely experienced these struggles before, possibly on a daily basis. People somehow don’t understand that in order for us to be in a good mood, we need our beauty sleep! Well, in case you ever find yourself in a bad mood, especially early in the morning, here are some simple tips you could do to improve your mood (as told by a non-morning person):

  • Do some light stretches before you get out of bed to get your happy hormones running
  • Play some happy, jazzy tunes in the background to help soothe your stress
  • Apart from bitter coffee, grab yourself a refreshing, good morning pick-me-up that can help brighten up your day and boost your mood. One drink Admin cannot do without is a rejuvenating bottle of ‘Good Mood’.

ICYMI, this aptly named drink called Good Mood is basically infused water and it comes in Lemon Honey and Yogurt flavours that will surely perk you up even on your worst days.

It’s also a quick fix since you don’t have to make it at home or wait for it to brew. Ain’t nobody got time for that especially if we’re already late for an appointment!

If you haven’t heard of this drink before, that’s because it’s fairly new to the market but Malaysians are already raving about it! This clear water infused with delicious flavour, minus the preservatives and artificial sweetener is the perfect drink if you’re looking for something refreshing but at the same time not too sweet or overpowering.

Good Mood is also a much healthier choice compared to your bottled juices or carbonated drinks as it contains much less sugar. It will surely lift your mood on a bad day without the guilt of taking in too much sugar.

If you’re interested to give Good Mood a try, visit their Shopee shop here!
