Usually when families travel to places, their children’s safety is always one of their top priorities. It’s incredibly heartbreaking when a family’s vacation turns into their worst nightmare.
A family from Bahrain travelled to Iskandar Putri, Johor for a vacation. Tragedy struck them when their 5-year-old son met his death by falling out of a window in the hotel room they were staying at.
The boy fell out of the hotel room window on the ninth floor at 5pm yesterday (5th August), reported Harian Metro. The victim was said to have been looking out the window before falling to a playground area, which was on the third floor.
According to Harian Metro’s source, the incident happened only an hour after the victim’s family checked in to the hotel.
The source said that when the incident happened, the victim’s mother and three-year-old brother were in the hotel room while the father had gone down to buy some things.
According to Astro Awani, the victim’s mother was cooking in the kitchen while the victim was playing with his younger brother in the living room.
The mother only noticed that something was wrong when she stopped hearing the sound of her kids playing. After checking, she only found her younger child. She realised that her son had fallen when she saw the window in the living room was opened.
There was a sofa near the window in the hotel room and the boy was believed to have climbed onto the sofa, opened the window and looked down.
“Coincidentally, the boy’s father called his wife to ask about what things to buy. The wife cried and told her husband about the incident before he rushed back to the hotel,” the source added.
“The people there who witnessed the incident immediately called the police,” they said.
The Chief District Police of Iskandar Puteri, Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar verified that he received a report regarding the incident.
“Yes, it’s verified. The boy’s body is sent to the hospital for an autopsy,” he said.
“The case is classified as sudden death (SDR),” he continued.
We should constantly keep an eye on our children and be aware of their whereabouts at all times. All thoughts and prayers go to the victim’s family.
