5 Struggles M’sians Who Grew Up With Health-Conscious Parents Can 100% Relate To!

Being raised by health-conscious parents was a bit of a rollercoaster, right? It wasn’t just about eating our greens, they had their hands in our daily grind too!

But as the years passed, we’ve realised that all those “parental interventions” actually did wonders for our well-being and, dare we say it, our good looks. If you also have health-conscious folks at home, you can definitely relate to the struggles below!

1. Must finish all vegetables and detox juices

Living with health-conscious parents, we were obliged to finish all the leafy greens on our plates. As if the bitter lettuce and mushy lady’s fingers weren’t challenging enough, we were also tasked to gulp down detox juices made of sawi and bitter gourd!

Although these greens may not have been our favourite, they provide our bodies with essential nutrients that not only strengthen our immune systems and digestive functions but also promote radiant and healthy skin!

2. Family day = outdoor sports

When the long-awaited weekends rolled around, we yearned for a day filled with gaming and leisure. Alas, our sporty parents insisted on a family day full of outdoor adventures complete with brisk jogs, intense badminton sessions, and more!

While exercising can be tedious, we’re all well aware of the incredible benefits it brings. Besides lowering our risk of chronic diseases and strengthening our bones and muscles, working out can also stimulate skin cell adaptations that help delay skin ageing!

3. Need to sleep at 10pm sharp

No late-night adventures or sleepovers for us! While our friends were devouring their roti canai at the mamak, we were tucked into bed at a grandma-approved bedtime.

Thanks to our parents’ discipline, we established a healthy circadian rhythm, which boosts our heart health and reduces the risks of cardiovascular diseases. Not only that, but healthy sleep patterns can also prevent the formation of dark eye circles, acne, and fine linesnow we know why it’s called beauty sleep!

4. Free time = hobby classes

In order to keep us away from the TV and computer screens, our parents signed us up for a bunch of hobby classes like painting, dancing, and playing the piano. Forget about TV time, as our after-school hours were infused with creativity and skill-building!

As we’ve matured, we’ve come to realise the important roles of these hobbies in our everyday lives. Other than learning a new skill, they also served as an outlet to release stress and foster mental wellness. And hey, effective stress management keeps pesky breakouts at bay too!

5. Have endless supplements to take

From liquid vitamins to fish oil pills, we were given all kinds of supplements every day. While our peers savoured ice cream and desserts, our sweet indulgence was limited to Vitamin C gummy bears!

Thankfully, this daily ritual supplied our young bodies with vitamins and minerals that were missing from our meals. In addition to preserving a healthy immune system, taking supplements also improves our appearance by promoting plumper and smoother skin

In spite of our childhood struggles, we’ve grown into health-conscious adults who live a healthy lifestyle. However, despite eating healthy and exercising regularly, research shows that many of us are still deficient in vital nutrients. Not only that, but as we grow older, our bodies become less proficient at absorbing these nutrients too!

As a result, many Malaysians have continued taking dietary supplements to supply their bodies with sufficient nutrients, just like when they were kids. Alternatively, if you never took supplements growing up, or maybe you stopped, it’s never too late to start again. Not sure where or how to begin? Don’t worry, we’ve found the perfect supplements for you!

We’re talking about Swisse supplements that can boost your physical wellness AND improve your skin health!
