People all over the world look forward to New Year’s Eve celebrations, as these events offer the opportunity to look back on memories made but also look forward to building new ones with our loved ones in the future – and of course, who doesn’t love a valid excuse to party?!

NEON Countdown 2022 saw a whopping 60,000 people attend the festival over the course of three days!

We had the opportunity to attend NEON Countdown 2022 in Bangkok last December and boy, here’s why you should NOT miss out on the next one!

1. Top-tier lineup with only the biggest DJs in the world

The pandemic meant that a lot of us were stuck indoors with virtually no entertainment. Once lockdown rules eased, the team at NEON Countdown felt that the only right thing to do was to come back with a bang. The 2022 edition of the festival boasted one of the biggest artist lineups of any festival in Asia – the perfect place for people to revenge-party it out after not being able to attend any events for almost three years.

With massive acts like multi-platinum selling artists Afrojack, Alan Walker, Number One DJ in the world Martin Garrix, Axwell from the iconic trio Swedish House Mafia and many more artists from all across the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) spectrum, the atmosphere was indescribable!

2. Travelling to Thailand! Need we say more?!

Thailand is one of the hottest travel destinations for Malaysians with Bangkok ranking top on the list of most travelled-to international destinations for Malaysians. As far as partying goes, you’re not going to find a better place to let loose and go totally wild that’s both cheap and close to home!

Besides the parties, going to Bangkok gives you a chance to explore a culture that’s both extremely different yet familiar at the same time. Thailand is one of the few countries in Asia that is totally untouched by colonisation but is still a melting pot of people from all over the world, which makes for an extremely unique experience altogether. Besides being known for having beautiful architecture, golden beaches and Malaysians’ favourite: the FOOD! Thailand is also home to some of the nicest people in the world!

3. State-of-the-art festival production

You can see how much effort the team at NEON Events put into creating a one-of-a-kind experience for festivalgoers.

Besides the cleverly picked out venue, they also had super Instagrammable art installations scattered all over the festival grounds, and plenty of food and drinks vendors catering to all sorts of cuisines from around the world.

Of course, we cannot forget the mind-blowing stage production that set NEON Countdown apart from any other festival in the region – undoubtedly one of the best stage designs we’ve seen in a long time!

4. Support local

Did you know that NEON Countdown is a fully homegrown Malaysian brand? After four consecutive years of celebrating New Year’s Eve in various places across the Klang Valley, the team decided it was time to play in the big leagues.

After taking a risk by moving to Thailand in 2019, where many established music festivals have been around for years, the originally Subang-based company beat all expectations and has turned NEON Countdown into the biggest music festival in Thailand and undoubtedly one of the biggest in Asia! Wah! Not bad ah!

The festival also regularly features hometown heroes and Malaysia’s biggest DJs Chukiess & Whackboi and Blink – what better place to show your support than at Asia’s leading New Year’s Eve Countdown festival?

5. Bigger and crazier events are in store this year

After the festival’s huge success in 2022, NEON has no plans on slowing down this year with many exciting events coming up!

By mid-year, they’ll be hosting Sunset by NEON – an exclusively Deep House & Techno festival somewhere in Southeast Asia  – the perfect warm-up for NEON Countdown 2023 this December!

Of course, we’re counting on another huge New Year’s Eve celebration this December, so keep your eyes peeled, because we’ve heard that NEON Countdown this year is going to be the biggest one yet and we can’t wait!
