Fireworks and festive seasons are almost inseparable, it’s like a symbol to reflect the happiness of those who are celebrating. Well, it’s called Seasons of Joy for a reason. But what happens when fireworks become harmful?

In Indonesia, an unfortunate toddler met his demise due to a seizure, believed to be from the fireworks that shocked him. A resident in Gersik, Indonesia was celebrating Syawal with the fireworks without realising that his actions would seal the fate of the toddler, who was only 38 days old. He was immediately rushed to the hospital after the seizure but to no avail.

The baby died a few days later.

As for the man who lit the fireworks, he has since apologised to the family of the toddler and assured them that he had no intention to cause any disturbance, but was merely celebrating the Raya season. The distance between his house and the victim’s house was only 20 meters away.

“I truly did not foresee such consequences,” the man said.

During the night itself, the man was not the only one who lit up the fireworks as many residents nearby also did the same.

According to Warta Oriental, the family members of the victim said they just want a sincere apology from the man himself, which he is willing to do.

According to multiple reports from Indonesia, the doctor revealed that there was a ruptured blood vessel in the baby’s brain, which is usually caused by a collision. However, a pediatrician revealed that a newborn will still have Moro Reflex, also known as the startle reflex when they hear a loud noise, which can trigger the seizure.

If not handled properly, fireworks can be undeniably harmful at times as they may not only cause physical injuries but also other accidents, such as this case. Do you think the man should be held responsible for the cause of the toddler?
