The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) exchanged gunfire with a 36-year-old local man during a chase in Kuala Lumpur around 4:40AM today (August 6).
According to Kosmo!, the man was believed to be the mastermind behind a housebreaking and robbery gang and also involved in a drug syndicate. Police intercepted him before the shootout happened.

The suspect was eventually shot dead
The suspect, who was driving a BMW, was in the area scouting for new robbery targets. However, he was shot dead during the ensuing shootout with police.
Acting Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Datuk Fadil Marsus, said the man was believed to have been actively involved in robbery and drug distribution syndicates since last year.
He added that checks revealed the suspect had 44 prior criminal records, including cases of housebreaking, violent crimes, and drug-related offences.
“The suspect who was shot dead is believed to be the leader or main mastermind of a gang involved in housebreaking and drug activities across Kuala Lumpur, Perak, and Selangor,” he said.

Fadil Marsus added that a revolver-type pistol, believed to have been used during the shootout, was recovered from the suspect.
Meanwhile, China Press reported that the BMW the suspect was driving was believed to have been smuggled into the country with a fake license plate.
