A 27-year-old woman was recently caught for khalwat (close proximity) with her husband’s friend by the Religious Department in Kulim, Kedah.
The pair were found at the man’s house in Taman Kenari around 10:03 am today (17 August), following a tip-off about alleged indecent activities at the location.
When officers arrived, they had to knock for 20 minutes before the man opened the door and allowed them to inspect the premises. During the inspection, the woman was found sleeping on a mattress in the living room. She had brought both her children along for the overnight stay.
When questioned, the woman said she decided to stay at the man’s house because she was tired after travelling from Perlis. However, she later admitted that her in-laws’ house was not far from where she was caught.

According to Anwar Sharifuddin, Enforcement Officer of the District Religious Department, the woman claimed she had known her husband’s friend for a long time. She also said their relationship grew closer after her husband was sentenced to jail for a drug offence earlier this year, and that she was currently in the process of filing for divorce, as reported by Sinar Harian.
The man also stated that he had known the woman’s husband since their school days.
Both individuals were detained under Section 25(a)(b) of the Kedah Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment (EKJSK) 2014 on suspicion of khalwat, according to Harian Metro.
