Twenty-three-year-old Nawal Shahirah Mohd Jamil, a student at Universiti Malaya (UM), has been missing for six days as of today (1 February).
In an official statement issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Petaling Jaya on Saturday (31 January), Nawal was last seen at her apartment, Ryan & Miho, at around 11 PM on Tuesday (27 January). Standing at 170cm tall, the statement added that she was last seen wearing a grey shirt and long pants.

According to information circulating on social media, Nawal is a third-year economics student, and search efforts to locate her are currently underway. The posts also stated that her iPad and mobile phone were last detected on Tuesday evening—the same day she went missing.
UM working closely with police
In a report by Astro Awani, Universiti Malaya confirmed that it is working closely with PDRM to assist in locating Nawal.

“UM views this matter seriously and has taken immediate steps to contact the authorities and the families of the student involved to provide appropriate assistance and support,” the university said in a statement.
In the meantime, UM urged the public not to engage in speculation that could interfere with the investigation or disrupt the privacy of those affected. The university added that any official developments regarding the case will be communicated from time to time, and expressed hope that the student will be found safely.
