Many don’t really know it’s like working as a healthcare professional, many of whom experience verbal and physical sexual harassment at their workplace.
On 18 July, a 22-year-old radiographer from Sarawak was molested TWICE by a Bangladeshi worker at a polyclinic at Jasin, Melaka, according to Oriental Daily.
This incident occurred as she was positioning him for an x-ray by asking him to raise his arms, and his hand somehow brushed across her breasts. At first, the radiographer thought that it was just an accident and brushed it off.
But after the x-ray procedures were all done, the 31-year-old man, once again, brushed through the radiographer’s breasts as he was putting back his clothes on.
This time, she knew it was no longer an accident. Angered with the sexually harassed, she told the foreign worker to get out of her x-ray room.
However, things became worse when he allegedly moved towards her and shushed her by placing his finger on his lips.
This made her scream loudly as she asked why he did that. She also attempted to fend off the worker by telling him that she’s a married woman.
Fortunately, other staff who were on duty heard her cries, and they chased him away, and all foreign workers who were there for a check-up. Although we wonder why that was necessary.
Apparently, this group of Bangladeshi workers were scheduled to have a health checkup by the company that hired them. Well, it seems like the company needs to reassess the people they employ.
The Melaka police have received the report regarding this case, and they’ve begun investigations.
We hope the poor woman is alright now, and it was very courageous of her to stand up for herself!
