A mom and her 2 friends were sentenced to 14 days in jail and fined RM10,000 each by the Sessions Court on Monday for kicking a little boy back in February, according to Bernama.

Judge Norina Zainol Abidin sentenced the boy’s mother, a 20-year-old fast-food worker, alongside 35-year-old housewife Adibah Mohd Zaini, and 25-year-old Nor Azlin Fatin Najihah Lokman, who is unemployed, after they pleaded guilty.

She repeatedly kicked a 3-year-old boy

The charges say the 3 were accused of abusing a 3-and-a-half-year-old boy, causing him physical injury at an apartment in Taman Danau Desa, Brickfields.

On November 4, the mom, who’s also the one who reported the incident, filed a police report about a video showing her child being repeatedly kicked by Adibah in front of her and another friend, Nor Azlin, at Adibah’s house back on February 23.

2 days later, the child was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, and an initial checkup found injuries on the child’s forehead, stomach, back, arms, and legs.

“The actions of the accused were inhumane”

The investigation found that all 3 accused together caused abuse to the victim by kicking the victim, resulting in physical injuries.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Joshua Tee Yee Khuan requested the court to impose a prison sentence, stating that the actions of the accused were inhumane.

Meanwhile, the 3 accused were not represented by a lawyer, and requested a fine as punishment, citing their responsibility to care for their families.

They could face a fine of up to RM50,000 or 20 years in jail

The court ordered the 3 accused to start their jail time on November 11 and ruled that they will face an additional 6 months in jail if they fail to pay the fine.

Judge Norina also told them they’d have to stay on good behaviour for 5 years without any collateral and do 240 hours of community service within 6 months after their sentence.

The charges were filed under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, along with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which means they could face a fine of up to RM50,000, up to 20 years in jail, or both.
