Just today, a female student from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) committed suicide earlier this morning.
According to Sin Chew, the 20-year-old student named Wong, had disappeared for a brief moment last night before she decided to return to her hostel at 2am. She then packed her belongings and wrote a note for her mother.
In the note, Wong who appeared to be depressed, mentioned that the pressure from life and studies was too much for her to handle. The stress from her work has also plunged her deeper into depression. The never-ending problems in life, studies and work have caused her to lose hope in life.
Although she was satisfied with her living environment, there were still many variables in life that were unpredictable. Nothing seemed to be in her control. As such, her urge to commit suicide grew stronger. She even claimed herself to be a ‘loser’, and that ‘leaving’ is the best solution for her.
Moreover, Wong, who’s from a single-parent family, apologised to her mother for disappointing her. And hopes that her mother and younger brother would live on and and take care of themselves.
After leaving the note for her mother, she jumped off her condominium in Setapak at 4am. Wong’s mother broke down in tears upon receiving the news.
It was understood that during the night of the incident, Wong suddenly disappeared and couldn’t be contacted. This got her housemates worried because they knew about her condition. Hence, they requested for help from the community police. It was also revealed that Wong started having suicidal thoughts since Monday.
So guys, if you’re having any problems, please confide in someone close to you. Committing suicide is not the solution. We’d like to extend our sincerest condolences to Wong’s family.
