The Hulu Selangor District Police revealed that it has taken notice of a viral video circulating online showing a robbery attempt of a Malaysian man at a shop premise in Ulu Yam Bharu, Hulu Selangor, Selangor.
In a statement, acting Hulu Selangor District Police Chief Mohd Asri bin Mohd Yunus confirmed the incident and that the victim had lodged a police report at around 6.42am on Wednesday (18 June).

Mohd Asri added that during the incident, the victim was at a shop premise when two parang-wielding individuals dressed in black clothing, a hat and a face mask entered via the backdoor and tried to attack the victim with the weapons.

He further elaborated,
“During the incident, the victim screamed for help, causing the suspects to panic before fleeing. The suspects also didn’t manage to run away with any of the victim’s belongings.”

The Hulu Selangor District Police believes that both suspects are locals and is now investigating the case under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempt to commit robbery. If convicted, the provision prescribes a punishment of up to 7 years in jail and a fine.
