A new cluster called Kluster Selasih has been detected in Putrajaya at a primary school, SK Putrajaya Presint 8(1) where two classrooms will be closed for 14 days starting on 1 October after a Covid-19 outbreak.
Sinar Harian reported that the case was confirmed by Director-General of Education Malaysia, Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim.
The classrooms closed was a pre-school classroom and a standard one classroom. A staff member and her child who is in standard one tested positive were believed to have contracted the virus from the staff’s husband who returned from Sabah. The husband is also the index case of the Selasih cluster who has a travel history to Kota Kinabalu, Melangkap and Kundasang from 13 to 20 September 2020 and from 24 to 27 September 2020.
The man arrived at KLIA on 27 September with fever and cough symptoms and was tested positive on 28 September. Following this, six of his close contacts were tested positive as well. These six cases are all Malaysians and have been admitted to Hospital Sungai Buloh for further treatment.
As of 1 October 2020, 12pm, 28 individuals have been tested from the cluster and the results are as follow:
- Seven have tested positive
- Eight have tested negative
- 13 are still waiting for their test results
