Two brothers, aged 12 and 14, were swept away by a strong current while trying to retrieve a ball from a large drain in Taman Prima Saujana, Kajang, Selangor, yesterday evening (4 December).
Unfortunately, the younger boy was pronounced dead at the Kajang Hospital after he was found 2km from where the siblings had fallen into the drain.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof shared how the 12-year-old boy was found by the search and rescue (SAR) team.
“The boy was found unconscious in Sungai Kantan and was given emergency aid at 7:47 PM before being taken to the Kajang Hospital for further treatment. But, sadly, I regret to inform you that at 10 PM last night, he was confirmed dead,” he said.
The search efforts for the younger brother are ongoing
Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof added that the SAR operation is still ongoing to find the victim’s 14-year-old brother.
The SAR operation involves a force of 35 personnel from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).


“So far, we have not found the second victim. God willing, as long as weather conditions permit, we will continue the search. If the conditions do not permit, we may stop for a while and resume tomorrow morning,”
“We hope and pray that we can find the missing brother in the near future, to facilitate all related matters,” he added.
