The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) is actively coordinating efforts to locate a group of 12 Malaysians who have gone missing in India. The group is said to be uncontactable by their respective families following heavy rain fall that hit the northern region of India last Sunday (July 9).
In a statement by Wisma Putra, they announced that the tracking efforts were carried out through the Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Indian authorities.
The High Commission was informed that the group involved were participating in an adventure expedition in Hampta Pass, Himachal Pradesh.
“Any latest developments regarding the status of the Malaysians affected in this incident will be communicated from time to time,” they added.
The Malaysian High Commission in India has since advised Malaysians who need consular assistance to contact them via +91 85955 50594 or an email to mwdelhi@kln.gov.my.
Wisma Putra also urged Malaysians to be more careful and always keep up with the weather in every location they visit.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, at least 20 people have been found dead following the flash floods and landslides caused by the heavy rain fall in Himachal Pradesh.
