A Malaysian kid who is only 10 years old has lost her eyesight after surgery, and her mum wants the doctor to take responsibility.

“Give my daughter her sight back! She’s only 10 years old, and she can’t witness this beautiful world!” the mother lamented.

In a report by China Press, the kid suffers from congenital cataracts, which is hereditary, and upon the doctor’s advice, the mum agreed for her daughter to undergo surgery after the doctor said the child had high intraocular pressure.

The kid was able to read despite her blurry vision, and according to her mother, the child’s vision gradually improved after undergoing treatment at a government hospital, and only needed to cope with a pair of glasses. However, in the hope of better treatment, the mother and daughter travelled from Tanjong Karang, Selangor, to a private hospital in KL in June 2022 and took the doctor’s advice for surgery.

“I didn’t want to see my daughter go blind, so I agreed to the surgery.”

Shockingly, the kid’s eyes bled after surgery, and the doctor prescribed an eye drop and told them that her vision would improve, but that did not happen.

2 years after the surgery, the daughter turned blind.

The woman said that the doctor involved did not mention a word about the operation and her daughter’s condition during the subsequent follow-up consultation, which made her deeply dissatisfied.

China Press has also contacted the hospital for comment, but the person in charge is currently away.
