He was making statements that mocked Islam

The video, reshared by a Facebook user, quickly went viral, showing a man making statements that mocked Islam. This has since sparked religious and racial tensions in Malaysia, leading other users to report the content.

JAKIM’s Director-General, Datuk Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee, said in a statement that a police report has also been filed to make sure firm action is taken under existing laws.

He also urged the authorities to take strict action against the man involved and reminded everyone to avoid doing anything that could provoke anger or tension in society.

“Peace could be maintained through respect among all communities”

Sirajuddin further urged everyone to practice mutual respect and uphold good manners, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

He further stressed how they’re taking the matter seriously, especially since the viral content openly mocks and disrespects Islamic teachings.

“Peace and harmony in our country can only be maintained through respect and understanding among all communities,” he added.
