Former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri is now one of the suspects in an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after RM170 million in cash and gold bars were seized from safehouses.

Since then, the UMNO Youth Chief Dr Akmal Saleh has also been “dragged” into the matter when social media pages and Pakatan Harapan Youth of Sarawak claimed that Akmal received a whopping RM10 million from Ismail Sabri when he was in office.

The ‘Abdul Rani Kulup Fans’ X page claimed that Akmal did not voice out against Ismail Sabri’s investigation like how he would aggressively voice out against DAP, saying,

“Apparently when Ismail was the PM, he allocated RM10 million to Akmal for Communication expenses in 2022.”

Sarawak Pakatan Harapan Youth member Zairy Abdullah also made a similar remark by saying that Akmal received RM10 million from the former PM.

“Don’t be a hyprocrite, Akmal. You got your RM10 million too. No wonder you’re barking like a hungry dog.”

Akmal demands an apology, threatens legal action

Akmal casually responded to Zairy by asking him to produce evidence or apologise before he takes legal action. Last night (March 3), Zairy apologised to Akmal via a Facebook post, admitting that he did not verify his sources before making the claim.

Akmal accepted Zairy’s apology and said, “One down. We wait for another apology.”

“This time, I forgive you, Zairy. Check your facts before you play hero.”

As for the ‘Abdul Rani Kulup Fans’ X page, the UMNO Youth Chief responded and said it was a serious accusation.

“It’s simple. Let’s meet in court.”

“I don’t make a living by spreading defamation like the admin of this page who is hiding behind a fake identity. See you in court.”

Akmal urges authorities to take action

While Akmal did not mention any names in his post last night (March 3), he urged the authorities to catch not only those who receive bribes but also those who give out bribes.

“They should be afraid.”

“The government needs to be fast to come up with an act regarding political aid, so that we know who contributes and who receives the money.”

In his TikTok post, @drakmalsaleh also revealed that a police report has been lodged about the matter, and Akmal’s legal team will soon be in touch with the admin of said X page.
