Petrol is probably one of the most talked about topics in Malaysia aside from the 1MDB scandal. After all, our country is known for oil seeing that we have multiple oil rigs all around.

Recently, the Hari Raya holidays saw a dip in prices too and Malaysians are ever so thankful. #Bersyukurlah

Check out some of the super ridiculous things Malaysians totally do when pumping petrol.

1. Complain about the petrol price

Previously, petrol prices would change on a monthly basis, but now we have new prices every week. So, we have new things to complain about – or be thankful for – on a weekly basis.

2. Line up just to pump petrol before the price goes up the next day

If we see a massive queue in petrol stations, we can obviously tell that there will be an increase tomorrow.

3. Shaking the car to get more ‘space’ to fill up more petrol

As ridiculous as it sounds, admit it, we all do it. Even if it’s embarrassing, we still secretly do it.

4. Asking for free tissue or mineral water bottles

I mean… we’re Malaysians and we love FREE stuff. Duh!

5. Pumping to the minimum amount to join competitions

If the minimum is RM30 to enter that competition, why should we pump more than that, right?

6. Then pumping several times just to get more entries

If we need a full tank, just pump few more times lor… at least we can get more entries. 😛

7. When paying by card, you make sure you pump at an even amount

Paying exactly RM60; no cents or odd amount (plus the satisfaction you get if you’re mildly OCD). But when the amount isn’t exact, it seriously triggers us. ASDFGHJKL!

8. Feeling paranoid about spilling the petrol so you watch the pump like a hawk

We get nervous about leaving the pump as it fills up our tank, so we kinda just stare at it until it’s done.

9. Pumping petrol to the brim

Gotta get as much as possible into the tank because #kiasu.

10. Pressing the pump harder in hopes it would make the petrol fill faster

It doesn’t actually work but why not, right? This especially happens when we’re in a hurry to get somewhere. #Timeismoney
