Another accident involving a trailer carrying a container was reported at Kilometer 69.5 of the North-South Expressway near Machap, Johor, this morning (November 15).
According to a Facebook post by the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Negeri Johor, the incident, which took place at 7:43am, involved a 40-ton trailer, a Honda Civic and a Yamaha MT09 motorcycle.
They wrote, “The Renggan Operations Response Team (PO) Arrived at the scene at 8:36am, after receiving an emergency call and successfully concluded the operation at 9:11am.”
“According to Operations Commander, Senior Fire Office KUP Abd Rahim bin Razali, the rider of the Yamaha MT09 motorcycle, a 33-year-old man, was confirmed dead at the scene by the medical team from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM). The victim was later handed over to the police for further action.”
The driver of the trailer did not sustain any injury
Meanwhile, the driver of the trailer, a 40-year-old man, escaped the incident with no injuries.
However, 2 men aged 25 and 26 who were in the Honda Civic, were not so lucky.
“One of them was trapped in the driver’s seat and had to be removed using special equipment by the PKO (operations team) while another passenger was sent to a hospital by members of the public who were at the scene,” they added.
The rescue operation ultimately took the strength of 12 personnel and 2 FRT fire engines, with the assistance of the PKO BBP Ayer Hitam.
The cause of the accident has yet to be disclosed.
This comes after a 21-year-old woman lost her life 2 days ago (November 13), after a container overturned from taking a sharp turn at a Penang traffic light and crushed her car.
