Netizen, kamsanimb, took to his Threads profile to call out pickleball players for allegedly leaving a tennis court covered in tape after using the court to play pickleball.
He wrote, “Pickleball players, if you want to play on a tennis court, don’t stick masking or duct tape like this, can you? It’s messy and it ruins the court. Even better, go and play on actual pickleball courts. There aren’t even a lot of tennis courts. I play both sports and I respect each other.”
In his post, he showed how a tennis court had been left with tape all over it, apparently due to pickleball players using the tape to outline a pickleball court onto the tennis court.
“The (court) size and lines are different from tennis. Padel (ball courts) even have walls like squash. (The pickleball players) played on the tennis court because they wanted cheap and free (courts) but they didn’t think about tennis players,”
“A bit selfish, in my opinion. It’s not like they can’t, but play at the appropriate places lah,” he added.
Sharing is not caring
This led many to add to the sentiment that pickleball players should stick to pickleball courts.
“If you want to play pickleball, go to your own court lah. They must have wanted to play for cheap or for free. If you want to play a sport, invest a bit of money lah. They’re disturbing other people’s courts and are even destroying them.”
“I’m sorry but I’m ‘anti’ pickleball groups. Because where I stay, they’ve already snatched the tennis court and turned it into a pickleball court without any agreements. And then, they refuse to let tennis groups play there. I’m infuriated.”
“Those of us who play badminton are just patient. The (badminton court) nets have holes in them because of (pickleball players’) work.”
What do you think? Should pickleball players be allowed to play at tennis or badminton courts? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
