After finding themselves in hot water for faking the content about a “disappeared” influencer, Ammar Nazhan and his gang have issued an apology.
In a viral video, Ammar and a TikToker, Aras Abdullah, said they were sorry for the matter, promised not to let history repeat itself, and admitted that everything that had happened (yes, including Eyka’s disappearing act) was nothing but a hoax.
“We’re sorry about what happened, and we will not let it happen again. That’s all.”
The apology video was shared on KumparanNews’ TikTok page @kumparan, where the apology letter written by both of them to the Indonesian police was also shared. In the letter, Ammar stated that the fake content was purely for entertainment purposes.
Despite the apology, Ammar posted on his Instagram stories and asked his followers about the kind of content that he should come up with next before sharing the link to the full paranormal documentary, in which the 22-year-old Eyka “went missing before she was found.”
At the time of writing (February 8), Eyka herself has yet to respond to the matter.
“Please jail them to teach them a lesson!”
Malaysian social media, on the other hand, didn’t think a simple apology sufficed. Many urged the Indonesian authorities to keep the influencers there and put them behind bars to teach them a lesson.
Many also said that the influencers brought shame to their homeland.
“You don’t deserve to be a human; might as well be something else. Your parents must be embarrassed.”
“To the Indonesian government, please keep them. As Malaysians, we don’t accept their stupidity. Let them rot in the forest there.”
“Jail them to teach them a lesson. They’re not even underage, they deserve more than merely a warning.”
“I hope the Indonesian government punishes them.”
“I’m baffled that with this kind of content, they still gained many followers.”
“I hope the Indonesian police put them behind bars. They’re embarrassing Malaysia.”
“Don’t be soft-hearted with the apology. A punishment is still a punishment. That’ll teach them a lesson.”
