Goodbye, Yi Yi and Sheng Yi!

Panda cubs Yi Yi and Sheng Yi will return to China on 29 August 2023. According to an official statement by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, this follows the promise made between China and Malaysia.

The baby pandas have brought a lot of joy to the Zoo Negara workers and the zoo’s visitors. The news upset a lot of Malaysians, and many bid farewell via the internet, wishing that the panda cubs would have a safe journey back home.

Yi Yi and Sheng Yi will be taking MASKargo to fly home to Chengdu, China on 29 August 2023.

Don’t worry about not seeing pandas in the zoo anymore, as according to Zoo Negara, only the panda babies will be returned to China. The parents, Xing Xing & Liang Liang will still be here in Malaysia.
