The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued an apology to all Malaysians affected by a technical issue on the MyJPJ app which has raised considerable concerns regarding the JPJ database’s cybersecurity.
As shared by our sister site Lobak Merah, over the past week or so, many Malaysians have complained online about how their digital driving license (e-LMM) on the MyJPJ app has the face of a completely different individual or that the face and information on the e-LMM don’t match.
JPJ confirms the technical issue and assures no data breach took place
In a statement today, JPJ said that it is aware of the incident and apologises to those affected by the issue.
However, the department clarified that the issue happened not because of hacking or a cybersecurity breach but because of the large-scale system maintenance JPJ performed on the MyJPJ system to ensure its sustainability.
Furthermore, JPJ assured that the technical issue had been fixed and that the MyJPJ system had also been upgraded and improved.
JPJ further asserted,
“The department would also like to confirm and guarantee that no element of system abuse or data theft of driving license holders took place. Instead, all of your information is safe and secure.”
“JPJ will continuously improve the system from time to time to further improve the delivery of the best digital services to the people.”
So, what do you guys think of the statement by JPJ? Did the technical issue on the MyJPJ app affect you?
