Women’s coach on public transport is designated for…the ladies. Just like how washrooms are designated for specific genders. It’s self-explanatory, right?
Years after women’s coaches are implemented on trains and buses, some public transport users are still happily violating rules, and invading prohibited areas as they like. In a viral Xiao Hong Shu (RED) post by @露西?, a Malaysian woman, Lucy recently spotted a foreign man on the MRT train.
Lucy was with her friend on the train when she spotted the foreign man in the women’s coach, and when the train stopped at the Chan Sow Lin station, auxiliary police came into the train and asked the man to leave.
Of course, the man refused and told the auxiliary police to leave the space to him.
“You shouldn’t be disturbing other people,” the man allegedly told the auxiliary police.
In her post, Lucy said that she couldn’t hear much about the man’s conversation with the auxiliary police. However, it was obvious to her that he refused to leave the coach, and she could hear some parts of the conversation, where the man justified his reasons to not leave the women’s coach.
“I heard he said that it wasn’t his problem. He kept asking why wasn’t he allowed to sit there, and he still couldn’t get it even after the auxiliary police continuously explained to him.”
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Lucy said she got down at the TRX station and she wasn’t sure of the conclusion of the matter.
“I don’t know if the man eventually left,” Lucy said.
Lucy also wondered what the public would do if they encountered a man in the women’s coach – someplace they’re not supposed to be.
Do we really need auxiliary police EVERYWHERE just to keep an eye on public transport users who violate this simple rule?
