Telegram has recently announced that they have added the ability for its users to import old messages from Whatsapp to their platform so you won’t lose any of your past conversations if you decide to switch to Telegram for good.
Based on the announcement made by Telegram, the function is available for both iOS and Android users. According to The Verge, this came after there was a surge in the number of users downloading and using the app. Users were prompted to switch after the announcement of the new privacy policy by WhatsApp a few weeks back.

The process of importing your conversation will happen on a chat-by-chat basis. For WhatsApp on iOS, users only need to open the conversation whether individual or group, and tap the name to open the info screen. Then tap the “Export Chat” which will open the iOS Share Sheet. After that, you will only need to pick Telegram to import your messages.
For Android users, you can simply tap the three-dot button and then select “More” or you can refer to this video shared by Telegram.
