A driver in Penang almost ran over a JPJ officer because she was too distracted with her smartphone while driving

At the start of the video, the JPJ officer, riding on a patrol motorcycle, can be seen signalling to a silver car with a ‘P’ sticker on the road to pull over as he had noticed the road user was using her smartphone while driving.

However, the driver was so distracted with her smartphone that she didn’t notice the JPJ officer and almost ran him over.

Thankfully, she noticed the JPJ officer at the last second and managed to swerve to the left and avoid an accident.

Throughout all this, the officer can be heard saying,
“Hoi! Huh, almost runs me over. Almost hit me, too distracted from playing the smartphone.”

The car then pulled over, and the officer reprimanded the woman for her irresponsible action while on the road.

Throughout the whole interaction, the driver repeatedly apologises to the JPJ officer as he continues to sternly remind the woman of the dangers of her actions.

After getting an earful, the woman was then issued a summons by the officer. Moreover, the JPJ officer also warned the woman not to use her smartphone while driving again.
