After a public tip-off, the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) detained a teenage male and a woman in her 20s for khalwat at a rented house in Johor Bahru.
After 7 minutes of knocking, a woman dressed in shorts and a T-shirt answered the door while the room lights were off.

The man, who was covered in a blanket, refused to get up as he was naked. One of the JAINJ enforcement officers then passed the teen a towel and asked him to put on his clothes.
Used condoms were found on the floor, but the pair claimed they were only friends
The teen said he was not from Johor, but was currently working in the state. The pair also claimed that they were only friends, but JAINJ enforcement officers found something shocking on the floor.
They found many packs of different-flavoured condoms, and some used ones were scattered on the floor.
The woman admitted to having purchased the condoms, which were delivered to the rented house.
In a viral Facebook post detailing the khalwat raid, a JAINJ spokesperson said the enforcement officers were baffled as to why the used condoms were not discarded and left unattended on the floor, causing a stench.
This wasn’t their first rodeo
The JAINJ spokesperson added that the tip-off revealed this incident wasn’t the teen’s first visit. The teen, who rented a room about 10km away, parked his motorcycle and quietly walked into the rented house around midnight to avoid being noticed by other tenants.
Less than 3 hours later, however, JAINJ enforcement officers paid the house a visit at 2:30 AM.
When asked if the couple had any plans to tie the knot, both said yes. Regardless, they were brought to the police station for further action, and in the post, JAINJ warned unmarried Muslim couples about committing khalwat in the state.
“You’re not safe in Johor. The chances of getting caught for khalwat are high. You might be safe for the first 3 times.”

JAINJ also urged the public to report any khalwat-related matters to their hotline at 07-2076429.
