When we think of Chinese New Year (CNY), we think of the abundance of food, ang pows, CNY cookies and time with family.

But without the CNY songs and music videos, the festivities would not be complete. Like, what would the uncles and aunties shout over if not catchy CNY songs playing in the background of open houses?

While CNY songs and music videos have been around for a long time, CNY dance trends only recently became more popular, especially with the rise of TikTok.

Recently, a TikTok video of a group of men dancing to an upbeat CNY song has gone viral, amassing almost 300k views in two days!

The video was uploaded by @khaiiiz20 and shows him and his friends dancing enthusiastically to the CNY song, ‘我的妈呀’ by 3P, a popular Malaysian band. The choreography is from the song’s official music video.

Although they were dressed very casually, their energy and enthusiasm were palpable as they danced in sync. They look like they’re having such a good time that we also want to join lah!
