Being away from Malaysia can make you feel a little homesick, especially when you’re so used to the food and culture there. Every morning, you leave your home and find numerous stalls serving delicious breakfast foods like nasi lemak or kuih by the roadside, something that’s not easily found in other countries.
@fobiahthadopeness took to his TikTok to express how much he’s been missing Malaysia since his recent travels to the United Kingdom to visit his family.
“Saya rindu Malaysia”
In the video, the 33-year-old expressed how upon landing in the United Kingdom, he was overwhelmed with emotion, suddenly missing his home country.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ahmad revealed that he was born and raised in the UK but had recently moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, back in December 2021.
He explained that his sudden longing for Malaysia was driven by multiple reasons, including the food, weather, people, atmosphere, his wife and more!
His Atuk introduced him to roti canai!
Ahmad revealed that it’s his 7th visit to Malaysia, and each time he returns, he experiences the same nostalgic feelings. His 1st visit was in 1997 for a month when he was just 5 years old.
“I think those memories, the experiences, and how much I enjoyed it have stayed with me. Seeing my family for the first time and the places they took us.”
However, he continued to share how he has 1 fond memory that will always have a special place in his heart which was the 1st time his Atuk introduced him to roti canai.
“I can confidently say I could eat roti canai for the rest of my life.”
“Where’s my nasi lemak?”
In the video, Ahmad can be heard expressing his frustration about not being able to find good and affordable nasi lemak in the UK, saying,
“Where’s my nasi lemak? Where are the stalls? I miss the food stalls, the pasar malam. Where am I supposed to get my roti canai? I really miss Malaysia.”
He even pointed out other areas where the road was empty, with no nasi lemak stalls or any of the other kinds of stalls you’d typically find all over Malaysia.
“I’m not sure if most Malaysians can relate to how I feel, but as a foreigner living here, I sense that Malaysia has a way of leaving a lasting impression. I can’t wait to return.”

If you’ve been living in Malaysia for quite some time, it really does have that effect on someone. For Malaysians, there’s simply no place like Malaysia that truly feels like home!
