Despite no reported deaths, the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Selangor yesterday (April 1) damaged at least 78 houses and over 300 vehicles in the area. Many are now homeless, and some who were injured received treatment at the Putra Heights Mosque before they were sent to the hospital.
While the said mosque is the official temporary evacuation center (PPS) set up by authorities, another mosque in USJ has opened its door to victims of the tragedy who need shelter.

In a Facebook post by Masjid Al-Falah USJ9, Subang Jaya yesterday, the management of the mosque announced that the house of worship has been opened to the victims of the gas pipeline fire, and all are welcome, even if they simply need a rest.
“In case your family or you need a break or shelter, our mosque is always open for you.”
“We’re with you. If you need any help, please contact our management or come to the mosque. May Allah help us.”
The management of the mosque also confirmed that ANYONE who was affected by the incident can visit the mosque to seek shelter, citing that “they would do their best to help.”
The Subang Jaya mosque is also sending supplies to the PPS

In another Facebook post, the management of the mosque revealed that they are also providing aid to the victims placed in the PPS at the Putra Heights Mosque by sending food supplies to them. The mosque that is currently serving as the evacuation center for the victims is the nearest mosque to the location of the gas pipeline fire.
Following the government’s announcement on the RM5,000 aid for families who suffered total losses of their houses, Puchong MP, Yeo Bee Yin, shared on her socials this morning (April 2) that the victims will receive another RM1,000 aid to cope with the losses. The money will be distributed to each family.

In the meantime, donations in the form of clothes and basic necessities are also welcome, as there is still no saying when the victims can head home.
