Coldplay’s show in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday night (November 22) was a BLAST, despite the raindrops that kept falling on your head. It was truly a dream come true for those who had anticipated singing along with the British musicians at the show. As good as it was, not everyone had the luxury to catch the long-awaited concert.
A young Malaysian woman, Joanna was excited when she managed to purchase the tickets. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the concert. Joanna Jeyamalar passed away on October 8 after succumbing to an autoimmune disease. Despite her absence, her family members attended the show, and in a way, they brought Joanna along.
Tickets secured! But not for Joanna
In a heartfelt conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Joanna’s sister, Premala recalled the excitement that filled the house when Joanna managed to secure the tickets to Coldplay’s show. It was one of those moments that Premala will never, ever forget.
“I was under confinement and I was upstairs but I could hear Joanna and my husband cheering loudly when they secured the tickets.”
Premala said securing the tickets meant a lot for Joanna, who was a huge fan of Coldplay growing up, and she had 4 laptops running at the same time just to make sure she got the tickets in hand.
“Joanna ‘forced’ us to take leave just for the sake of securing the tickets,” Premala told WORLD OF BUZZ.
Joanna managed to secure 4 tickets but unfortunately, our plans can never “beat” what fate had in store for us. Joanna, who was the most excited person for the concert did not live to see the show.
On the big day itself, Premala attended the show in Bukit Jalil with her husband and her cousin. They sold Joanna’s ticket to someone else but that didn’t stop them from “bringing” Joanna along. Joanna should not miss the show.
“We made it here, Jo girl”
They brought a framed graduation picture of Joanna along and enjoyed the show together with some inevitable tears.
“Jo girl, we made it to the concert,” Premala said in her social media posting.
“Coldplay played all the songs that reminded us of you. I was supposed to be jumping & dancing, but your absence made me cry. Coldplay played all the beautiful songs for you tonight, they knew you were in paradise.”
Premala made sure to record Joanna with one of her favorite Coldplay tracks – My Universe, which you can watch below.
Rest in Peace, Joanna. Our thoughts and prayers go to Premala and the family.
