Even though all of us are part of nature, animals still manage to amaze us with how human-like their behaviour is.

On April 6, a tapir broke free from captivity at the Johor Zoo and went for a stroll around Jalan Gertak Merah in Johor Bahru.

This incident occurred at 3:15 a.m, in the wee hours of the morning. According to ASTRO AWANI, a PERHILITAN officer and 6 Civil Defence (APM) personnel were dispatched to the location.

It is said that the tapir only managed to get home at about 4 am.

The Johor APM team uploaded a video of the chase to their Facebook page, and many netizens were entertained by the short clip of the officers running after the tapir.

“Why can I see the officers running at the same pace as the tapir?”

Another commented, “The Johor Zoo was closed for too long, so the tapir probably wanted to hang out for a little while.”

“It wants to go home for Raya.”

This is certainly a very cute video and you can watch it here.

We hope that the tapir will not be attempting this run again soon!
