WATCH: M’sian Authorities Chase Down Illegal Immigrant Girl Asking for Alms at Lahad Datu Traffic Light Junction

The stern action of the authorities in Lahad Datu, Sabah against illegal immigrants there earned praise from Malaysians recently.

This is after a video went viral on TikTok, depicting the authorities, believed to be the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), apprehending a girl who was dangerously asking for alms from road users at a traffic light junction.

Shared by @jr7engineering, the video has garnered over 568,200 views and 12,600 likes as of the time of writing.

Recorded from inside a car at the traffic light junction at Lahad Datu town, 1 enforcement personnel can be seen running through the road, as if chasing someone.

The camera then pans to the left to reveal a girl, believed to be an illegal immigrant, running from another enforcement personnel before slowing down and following his instructions.

The enforcement personnel then rendezvous by the roadside to bring the girl in, who was cooperating the whole time.

In the caption, @jr7engineeering wrote,

“We, the residents of Lahad Datu are now ‘Merdeka’ from these illegal immigrants”

Malaysians urge for enforcement to be done nationwide

In the comments section, many Malaysians praised the enforcement personnel for their stern action and urged for such enforcement to be done nationwide.

One commenter said that many illegal immigrants are doing the same thing too at traffic lights in Selangor.

Meanwhile, several commenters congratulated the authorities for a job well done and urged them to be consistent.

Besides that, one commenter said that these illegal immigrants asking for alms on the road, be it children or adults, endanger road users and themselves, hence strict enforcement such as this is much welcomed.
